HorseGrooms Wins The Plaid Horse Equine Impact Small Business Contest!

HorseGrooms Wins The Plaid Horse Equine Impact Small Business Contest!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that HorseGrooms has been named the winner of The Plaid Horse Equine Impact Small Business Contest! This incredible honor recognizes the hard work of our team, our contributors and our dedication to elevating the role of grooms in the equestrian world, while advocating for horse welfare and building a global community of horsemanship.

Our story began in the most unexpected of places — a season spent wrangling horses on a Wyoming ranch, tucked between Yellowstone National Park and the Big Horn National Forest. There were two of us: Amy McGann, a creative soul who chased wild stories in even wilder places, and Dinette Neuteboom, a globetrotting equestrian with an insatiable thirst for adventure and education and a deep commitment to horse care. We bonded over our shared love of horsemanship, adventure, and the desire to connect with others who shared our passion.

The Spirit of Connection

That season was unforgettable, not just for the sweeping mountain vistas or the horses we cared for but for the camaraderie that developed among our team. Working with horses brings people together, and even after the season ended, we couldn’t stay apart for long. This spirit of connection and horses is what inspired us to create HorseGrooms. We wanted to build something meaningful, a platform that empowers grooms and enhances horse welfare.

Our mission at HorseGrooms is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every groom has the resources, connections, and support to excel in their craft, no matter their discipline or where in the world they work. We believe we can improve the way we care for and train horses through education, storytelling, and a supportive global community.

How We Innovate Horse and Human Experiences

At HorseGrooms, we know that a skilled and attentive groom is crucial to horse welfare. As one of our writers Kit Miller, DVM, put it: “I have had the very good fortune to work with many excellent grooms, and I have great respect for their dedication and hard work. There is no doubt in my mind that the experienced grooms with whom I work help me to provide the best possible outcomes to the horses we care for together.”

Our innovation lies in elevating the role of grooms, advocating for education and creating a community that connects equine professionals worldwide. We’ve listened to our members and tailored our resources to their needs — whether it’s financial advice, wellness tips or interviews with experts in the field. By collaborating with grooms, vets and bodyworkers, we’re working to close gaps in horsemanship and improve care standards globally.

A friendship between Amy McGann and Dinette Neuteboom started on a Wyoming ranch and led to the beginning of HorseGrooms.

Giving Back to the Community

Since our founding, we’ve made it a priority to give back. In just a year and a half, our online community has grown to over 700 members. We’ve published nearly 200 free resources, hosted workshops and created spaces for meaningful conversations about equine care. We’ve also highlighted grooms from diverse backgrounds, sparking discussions on a global scale.

Our in-person events and workshops have provided practical tools and sustainability tips for the grooming profession. And as we grow, we’re committed to doing even more. From in-depth courses to community events, our vision is to create a worldwide network where grooms support and uplift each other.

It’s All About the Community

HorseGrooms isn’t just us behind the scenes — it’s every groom who engages with our resources, asks questions and shares their knowledge. Our community members inspire us every day, and together we’re changing the narrative in the equestrian world. We believe that no challenge is insurmountable with the right team, and we’re grateful to have the best team of all.

Winning the Plaid Horse contest is more than an award; it’s a celebration of every groom, horse enthusiast, and equestrian professional who believes in our mission. We’re excited about what the future holds and the incredible momentum we’re building together.

From all of us at HorseGrooms, thank you for being part of this journey. For the love of the horse, the sport, and our community; we’re just getting started.

Always in the spirit of horsemanship and adventure,
