Is a thicker bit really softer? How high should the bit sit in the horse’s mouth? Are modern anatomical bridles helping or hurting?
If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions or wondered how small adjustments in your bridle setup might be affecting your horse’s comfort, communication, and long-term soundness—you don’t want to miss our next HorseGrooms Insiders Live Q&A.
On Monday, August 25 at 1pm ET | 19h CET, we’re joined by Kailyn Pupa, equine physiotherapist, biomechanics specialist, and independent bit and bridle fitter, for an exclusive session on bit fitting, bridle fit, and biomechanics.

Meet Kailyn
Before founding Bullseye Equine, Kailyn groomed and managed horses at the five-star level around the world. Today, she combines her hands-on experience with scientific expertise, holding a graduate degree in equine physiotherapy from Writtle University (UK) and currently pursuing a master’s degree in equine biomechanics.
She specializes in helping performance horses and their riders succeed by fine-tuning the smallest details, from bit placement to bridle pressure points, so horses can feel better, move more freely, and perform at their best. Read more about Kailyn and her important work here and in an extensive resource about bit fitting in HorseGrooms Insiders.

On Monday, August 25, Kailyn Pupa of Bullseye Equine will teach HorseGrooms Insiders about bit & bridle fit and biomechanics.
What to Expect from This Q&A
In this live session, Kailyn will guide us through:
- The anatomy of the horse’s head and why that matters when fitting bits and bridles
- How common mistakes (like using the wrinkle method or choosing the wrong browband) can create discomfort and tension
- How to recognize poor fit and what simple adjustments can improve communication and rideability
- Tips for choosing the right bit for your horse’s conformation and work
- What’s new in research and rules, like the recent USDF headpiece updates for 2024
Whether you’re working with young horses, seasoned competitors, or rehabbing horses, Kailyn’s insights will give you practical tools to improve your tack setup and better support your horse’s wellbeing.
