HorseGrooms MeetUp at Diamante Farms
Tuesday, December 16, 6 to 7:30 PM | Wellington, FL
The 2025 Wellington season begins with an important and highly practical topic. Saddle fit affects every horse, in every discipline, and grooms play a key role in recognizing when something is not right. This first MeetUp of the season, presented by Stübben North America, will give grooms and other equestrians the tools they need to assess saddle fit with confidence and clarity.
Understanding saddle fit is not just about comfort. It is directly connected to a horse’s performance, movement, behavior, and long-term health. A well-fitting saddle allows the horse to use its body correctly. A poor fit can create tension, soreness, resistance, and even injury. Knowing what to look for, and how to respond, makes a meaningful difference in the wellbeing of the horses in your care.
This workshop is designed to be clear, practical, and hands-on. The goal is simple: to offer knowledge that helps you make good decisions at home and at the show, and to help you know when to call a professional for support.

What You Will Learn
Basic anatomy related to saddle fit
We begin with a simple explanation of the horse’s structure and how it affects saddle placement, balance, and comfort. Understanding the underlying anatomy makes the rest of the process easier and more logical.
How to palpate the horse
Participants will learn how to feel for sensitivity, tension, or uneven development. These findings often reveal saddle fit issues long before they show up in performance problems.
A groom’s checklist for proper saddle fit
We will walk through key points such as tree width, wither clearance, balance, and panel contact. You will learn how to evaluate whether the saddle and horse are working in harmony.
Warning signs of poor saddle fit
From small changes in behavior to visible soreness, we will discuss what to watch for, why it matters, and what those signs might indicate.
Solutions and next steps
You will learn what adjustments you can safely try yourself, when and how pads can help, and when it is necessary to call a qualified saddle fitter. The goal is to ensure a practical understanding that supports the daily work of caring for horses.

Who Should Attend?
This MeetUp is ideal for grooms, riders, barn managers, working students, and anyone who wants a clearer understanding of how saddle fit affects a horse’s wellbeing. The information is straightforward and actionable, with no guesswork and no gimmicks.
